Clay therapy is a form of psychotherapy that is growing in popularity.  Through the manipulation of clay feelings and thoughts can start to be expressed.  Issues that are held in the unconscious begin to take form when working with clay.  Working with clay is popular with children, teenagers, and adults.

People find it therapeutic touching, smoothing and squashing the clay.  Sometimes it is not the final ‘form’ that the clay takes but sensory work that takes place.  Working with the clay can help the function between the right- and left-hand parts of the brain.

Clay therapy takes place between a qualified therapist and client.  The client is invited to work with a block of clay and together with the therapist they observe what takes places.  Sometimes the person working with the clay might want to use their fingers, wrists, arms elbows even their feet!
